"When I was pregnant with my fourth child and living in a new area, I knew
that I needed to find someone to help me after the baby was born. One
Sunday, I bought a newspaper and there was a job feature article about a
post-partum doula in the area named Rachael. Contacting her turned out to
be one of the best things that I did to ensure a smooth transition from life
with three children under age 6, to life with four children under age 6.
Rachael was not only extra pair of hands to take care of the childrens'
needs and the household duties, but also was a good friend who listened when
I needed to share how I was feeling. She was also able to offer tips on
general babycare, like nursing and swaddling and on mommy care, like when I
needed to rest if I was not feeling well.
Overall, having Rachael with us for that wonderful, but sometimes difficult
time after the birth of a child was extremely beneficial to all of us. I
